Over the September holiday break Koobara Staff had the privilege to learn and connect on country at the 2022 St George on Country Early Learning Experience Conference. The conference was presented by the team at #connectingthedotsthroughculture. The conference was all about provided Educators with support and guidance to better understand how they can embed Aboriginal, and culturally and lingiuistically diverse persepectives into their every day practice. They took us on a journey of learning, exploration and reflection.
We started our 3 day conference with a Welcome to Country on the bank of the Balonne River.
Day 1– Workshop Historical Footprints.
Day 2– Workshops; riverside yoga with Aunty Deb Jackson, weaving with Cheryl Moggs, creation & art with Gordon Lister & Josh Brown, yarning with Aunty Liz Connor Knox, song and dance with Sharron mirri Bell, and ended the day with camp over dinner.
Day 3– Meet and walk on country experience walk with Uncle Sam, and cultural capability with Charlie Waters.
